Our flock of purebred St. Croix sheep traces back to breeding stock from Virginia State University, a leader in sustainable livestock research. Originally from the Virgin Islands, the St. Croix is a hardy, hair sheep breed known for its exceptional parasite resistance, making it especially well-suited for the humid climate of the southeastern United States.
St. Croix sheep are naturally polled and hair-coated, meaning they shed their fleece and require no shearing. They are calm, easy to handle, and incredibly resilient, often outperforming other breeds in forage-based systems thanks to their hardiness and disease resistance. Their strong maternal instincts and high lambing rates also make them a reliable choice for sustainable meat production.
At Wild Spring Farm, we selected the St. Croix breed not only for its efficiency and resilience, but also because it supports our commitment to ethical, pasture-based farming. Our sheep are raised on rotational grazing, with no antibiotics, hormones, or chemical dewormers—just clean pasture, fresh water, and good genetics.

Our Hybrid Sheep stock comes from the hardy, well-established lines developed by a retired geneticist working through Allen’s Creek Farm. With a focus on creating a hardy, pasture-based dairy sheep for Southern climates, the breeding program combined East Friesian genetics—known for high milk production and a calm temperament—with the parasite-resistant, heat-tolerant traits of Katahdin and St. Croix breeds.
The result is a balanced and robust flock: capable milkers with strong maternal instincts, excellent forage efficiency, and natural resistance to parasites and disease. These sheep thrive in our rotational grazing system without the use of chemicals, antibiotics, or unnecessary treatments.
They are calm, easy to work with, and well-suited for ethical, low-input farming. You get the best of both worlds with these hybrid sheep—ample milk production and a sturdy frame, along with the resilience and parasite resistance that make hair sheep so valuable in Southern pasture systems.

Named for its dense, soft fur that resembles that of a silver fox, this rabbit is not only striking in appearance but also highly practical. Silver Foxes have a gentle, laid-back personality, making them a good choice for families and first-time rabbit owners alike.
On the homestead, they shine as a meat rabbit, known for well-muscled carcasses, efficient growth, and excellent mothering instincts. Their ability to thrive in pasture-style or colony setups also makes them well-suited for natural and ethical farming systems.
